On Sept. 30, SmackDown ring announcer and songstress Lilian Garcia will perform during halftime at Metlife Stadium – the site of WrestleMania XXIX – when the New York Jets take on the San Francisco 49ers.
“When I got the call, I nearly dropped the phone,” Garcia told WWE.com, recalling the good news. She was already scheduled to perform the national anthem — as she has done at seven times prior at Jets game — but this marks the first time she will perform on the halftime show of an NFL game.
“The Jets want me to do a seven-minute show with their Flight Crew Cheerleaders, and I’m going to be rehearsing with them next week," said Garcia.
“It’s almost like it was supposed to happen,” Garcia says of her upcoming performance. “To be performing at MetLife Stadium, out of all the buildings and all of the stadiums I could be performing at — especially my first performance coming off of my EP being released — it’s magical. The Jets fans are great, too, and there are a lot of WWE Universe members within the Jets community.”
