If you are reading this my fellow Women's Wrestling lovers, it means that I have emotionally and spiritually died tonight after the watching in horror the WWE Divas (minus AJ and Beth) "dancing" to Kevin Rudolf's performance of Summerslam's theme song "Don't Give Up."
Going into a PPV for the last few months, us diva fans always look forward to the hopes of their being a last minute add in for a diva match and sometimes we would get pretty lucky. Sadly tonight, this wasn't the case at all. Let's be honest here, no one in that arena or at home gave two shits about that horrible performance from Kevin Rudolf. It was what, five or six minutes? In that time, we could have easily gotten a divas championship match, a tag team match. Hell I would've taken a two minute battle royal over them dancing around like fools pretending to enjoy the song.
What I really want to know is why does WWE seemingly love to make fools out of the divas? These girls give it their all in anything the company throws at them, train their asses off for two lousy minutes if their lucky on RAW or Smackdown and this is how WWE repays them? Well I'm calling total bullshit on this whole thing!
WWE says they want to make the divas into Strong, heroic women? Bullshit to that. How can the women be portrayed in that kind of way when they are never given the time to shine? How can I get behind someone like Layla, the divas champion, when I never see her on my TV? There's a rumor going around that Triple H, who wants to take over the whole company very soon, wants to give more focus to the dying Tag Team division, but yet he wont do the same for the divas.
Once upon a time, people were paying money to see the divas. They were given time, they all had characters and where had mic time. I firmly believe that if WWE gave divas today the same chances they gave to those former divas, people would still be interested in seeing the Divas. There would be way better matches than the ones we seeing right now.
Whatever the issues are, I know that I will still be a WWE Divas fan through the good times and bad. WWE needs to open their narrow minded eyes are see just how bad they are treating their women's divsion. So please WWE, #GiveDivasRespect
